On September 25, Excelsior Wellness broke ground on a transformative new project: a 25-unit intergenerational apartment complex designed to disrupt the foster care to homelessness pipeline, right here in Spokane.
This first-of-its-kind housing model will connect young adults aging out of foster care with older adults seeking stable, affordable housing. Together, they’ll form a community rooted in mentorship, stability, and connection, building not just homes, but hope.
We were honored to be joined by over 70 community leaders and partners who helped us mark this milestone. Special thanks to Mayor Lisa Brown, Amy Talley of Washington Trust Bank, and Tory Gildred of America’s Foundation for sharing their words and vision. We were especially moved by the blessing of the land offered by David Browneagle of the Spokane Tribe, grounding the event in tradition, respect, and purpose.
This project would not be possible without our incredible partners:
Bernardo Wills, Millennium Northwest, and Yost Gallagher Construction, thank you for helping us bring this vision to life.
And a special shoutout to Lilac City Coffee and Spokane Food & Events for keeping our guests nourished and refreshed, and to Corner Booth Media for beautifully capturing this milestone.
